Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International to Host Boat Parade Celebration on Dec. 15th at the Home of Nuccia McCormick

 

Proceeds to Benefit the Thomas W. McCormick Scholarship Fund

 

Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International will host a Boat Parade Celebration to benefit the Thomas W. McCormick Scholarship Fund.  The annual event will take place at the private home of Nuccia McCormick, Chair Emeritus of GFLSCI, on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. at 11 Harborage Isle on the water in Fort Lauderdale.     

 

The event will include cocktails, viewing of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, a buffet dinner and dancing.  Tickets are $125 per person and may be purchased by calling GFLSCI at 954.462.7727 or register online by visiting www.glfsci.org .

 

For over 12 years The Thomas W. McCormick Scholarship Fund has provided deserving students the opportunity to participate in an educational exchange program executed by GFLSCI.  Each year honor students from Broward Country are assisted with scholarships that allow them to travel to one of Fort Lauderdale’s Sister Cities.  The students stay in the Sister City for one month to study the native language and participate in numerous educational and cultural enrichment programs.  Past scholarship recipients have studied in Mar del Plata, Argentina; Gold Coast, Australia; Margarita Island, Venezuela; and Rimini, Italy.
