Medellin Mayor Federico Gutierrez and ACI Medellin rolled out the red carpet for Mayor Seiler and the delegates participating in this visit.  A special Protocol Meeting signifying the unity of these two cities was a celebration of unity between both Mayor Seiler and Mayor Gutierrez.

Mayor Seiler said "this visit continues to link these two cities together in their shared vision of global, social and economic progress. Supporting this pledge of mutual cooperation is Sister Cities International a dynamic organization that promotes peace and prosperity by creating bonds between people from different cities around the world". Since the Sister cities relationship began in 1961 both Medellin and Fort Lauderdale have experienced tremendous change. Both cities have grown tremendously in size, scope and stature while developing into world class centers for global business and international tourism.
